I down & upload gigs per week, and for the larger files I don't think twice about splitting them with winrar.

I keep different profiles within winrar, and in a few clicks your done.
Just keep the compression set to store, set the split to 100mg put a password if you want, then just save the profile as ??

I use rapidshare manager for uploading. Add the files and walk away
